– Nutriwild
Vitamin-enriched salt licks addressing natural deficiencies caused by the greenhouse effect.
Interview
Can you tell us about your journey from idea to company?
Nutriwild started last spring when I was at a lecture, where a biochemist told me about a vitamin that has decreased in nature due to the greenhouse effects. It is usually produced in plants, but the greenhouse effect has blocked certain processes in photosynthesis, which leads to a decrease in the levels of these vitamins. This results in strong negative effects on animals, especially the wild animals that live on these plants. He has fed them a powder, a granule, and has seen incredible results. The animals grow faster on less food, become better at utilizing energy, and have more offspring that are healthier. It’s a miracle cure if you believe him and he has it supported with data. He and I teamed up, and we are now making salt licks enriched with this vitamin that is not available on the market right now. With the help of SLU, we secured financing and pressed the first 1,500 stones in August. They are now out on several farms around Sweden, and in a year, we will evaluate and try to see if there has been any difference in reproduction and growth and then scale up properly.
In what ways have you received support in your entrepreneurial journey?
Financially, we received part of the verification support. We received support for both the production and purchase of the premix, which is the vitamin blend itself, but also for the development of the logo, website, and legal services. They have really taken care of everything, so they have been enablers in this process. My partner had tried to do the same thing before but failed because he didn’t get funding for it, so it’s really SLU’s credit.
What tips do you have for students who have an idea or are considering starting their own business?
Use the support from SLU!
I truly believe that many people have ideas that could be useful in the world. If you have a problem that you experience in your everyday life, you can be pretty sure that others are experiencing the same problem as well. If you see a potential solution to that, there’s a good chance you have a product. But just having the idea is 5% of the work; then you must implement and act on it. That’s where SLU is a great support because you don’t have to take any risks, they cover all the costs, support you in business development, and help you find the right path.
